* هناك طريقتان لكي نذكر أو ننقل ما يقوله شخص:
1 - كلام مباشر: ( Direct speech )
He said: "I'm going home."
2 - كلام غير مباشر: ( Indirect speech )
He said he was going home.
* * الكلام المباشر يذكر نص الكلمات الفعلية التي يقولها المتكلم.
ولكن نضعها بين علامتي تنصيص . " ............ "
** الفعلان say و tell ينقلان أخبار أو أفكار. ( جملة خبرية )
** الفعل say لا يتبعه مفعول مباشر عندما يستخدم كفعل ناقل لخبر.
ولكن الفعل tell يجب أن يتبعه مفعول مباشر .
Peter said that there was a game that evening
Jane told me that it began at eight o'clock
أولا: الجمل الخبرية
* نقل خبر في الماضي:
عندما يكون فعل القول في الماضي ( said – told ) يتغير زمن الفعل في الكلام المباشر من المضارع إلى الماضي عند تحويله إلى غير المباشر كما يلي:
Will --> would
Shall --> should
Can --> could
Must --> had to
وكذلك نحول:
- المضارع البسيط إلى الماضي البسيط
- المضارع المستمر إلى الماضي المستمر
- الماضي المستمر إلى الماضي التام المستمر
- المضارع التام إلى الماضي التام
- الماضي البسيط إلى الماضي التام
* بالإضافة إلي تغيير الأزمنة، هناك كلمات أخرى تحتاج تغييرها عند التحويل من الكلام المباشر إلى الكلام غير المباشر.
Tomorrow --> the next day
Here --> there
This morning --> that morning
Tonight --> that night
Next Tuesday / on Tuesday --> the following Tuesday
Last Tuesday --> the previous Tuesday
Last --> the previous
Yesterday --> the day before
This --> that
Today --> that day
Ago --> before / previously
The day after tomorrow --> in two days' time
* بعض الأفعال لا تتغير عند التحويل من المباشر إلى غير المباشر.
Would ----> would
Should ----> should
Could ----> could
Might ---> might
Ought to ---> ought to

Indirect: He said that he would talk to Mr. Jones
* لاحظ تحويل will إلى would وتحويل I إلى he
***************************************************
2- Direct: "I haven't seen anybody." She said
Indirect: She said that she hadn't seen anybody
* لاحظ تحويل المضارع التام المنفي haven't seen إلى الماضي التام المنفي hadn't seen. ولاحظ تحويل I إلى she

3- Direct: "I must go." he said
Indirect: He said that he had to go
* لاحظ تحويل I إلى he وتحويل must إلى had to
***************************************************
4- Direct: "I'm very tired." she said
Indirect: She said that she was very tired
* لاحظ تحويل I إلى she وتحويل am إلى was
***************************************************
5- Direct: "I'm having a bath." she said
Indirect: She said that she was having a bath
* لاحظ تحويل المضارع المستمر am having إلى الماضي المستمر was having وتحويل I إلى she
***************************************************
6- Direct: "I walked home after the party." he said
Indirect: He said that he had walked home after the party
* لاحظ تحويل I إلى he وتحويل الماضي البسيط walked إلى الماضي التام had walked ولاحظ أن 'd هي اختصار ل had

7 – Direct : " I spoke to Jane last week ." she said
Indirect : She said that she'd spoken to Jane the previous week
* لاحظ تحويل I إلى she وتحويل الماضي البسيط spoke إلى الماضي التام had spoken ولاحظ أيضا تحويل last week إلى the previous week

8 - Direct : " I will see you tomorrow." she said
Indirect : She said that she would see me the next day
* لاحظ تحويل will إلى would ولاحظ تحويل tomorrow إلى the next day وأيضا لاحظ تحويل I إلى she وتحويل you إلى me
***************************************************
9 - Direct : " I saw her today." he said
Indirect : He said that he had seen her that day
* لاحظ تحويل I إلى he وتحويل الماضي البسيط saw إلى الماضي التام had seen وكذلك لاحظ تحويل today إلى that day
***************************************************
10 - Direct : " I will see Mary on Sunday ." she said
Indirect : She said that she would see Mary the following Sunday
* لاحظ تحويل I إلى she وتحويل will إلى would ولاحظ تحويل on Sunday إلى the following Sunday
***************************************************
11 - Direct: "I met her about three months ago ." he said
Indirect : He said that he had met her about three months before
* لاحظ تحويل I إلى he وتحويل الماضي البسيط met إلى الماضي التام had met ولاحظ تحويل ago إلى before
***************************************************
12 - Direct: "We visited her this morning." they said
Indirect: They said that they had visited her that morning
* لاحظ تحويل we إلى they وتحويل الماضي البسيط visited إلى الماضي التام had visited وكذلك لاحظ تحويل this إلى that
***************************************************
13 - Direct: "We will see her next week." they said
Indirect: They said that they would see her the following week
* لاحظ تحويل we إلى they وتحويل will إلى would وكذلك لاحظ تحويل next week إلى the following week
***************************************************
14 - Direct: "It would be great if you could play in our group." she said
Indirect: She said that it would be great if I could play in their group
* لاحظ تحويل you إلى I وتحويل our إلى their وكذلك لاحظ بقاء would و could بدون تغيير عند التحويل إلى غير المباشر
